A Space Designed for Comfort and Connection

Kathy’s therapy office is thoughtfully crafted to feel more like a cozy home than a clinical

setting. Soft lighting, calming colors, and comfortable furnishings create an atmosphere where

clients can relax and feel at ease. This inviting space is particularly beneficial for children and

adolescents, who may find traditional therapy environments intimidating.

For younger clients, Kathy offers a fully equipped playroom tailored for play therapy

sessions. This specialized area allows children to express themselves through play, facilitating

communication and emotional processing in a natural and engaging way. The playroom is

stocked with a variety of toys and materials that cater to different developmental stages and

therapeutic needs.

Specialized Therapeutic Approaches

Kathy is trained in Adlerian Play Therapy and has completed advanced training in Sand Tray

Therapy through the Texas Sandtray Association. These modalities are integrated into her

practice to support clients in exploring their thoughts and feelings in a non-verbal, creative

manner. The sand tray room provides a unique space where clients can build scenes that reflect

their inner experiences, promoting insight and healing.

In addition to her work with children, Kathy offers Positive Discipline parenting workshops and

group coaching sessions throughout the year. These programs are conducted in a comfortable

group setting within her office, fostering a sense of community and shared learning among

participants.

Rooted in the Sugar Land Community

Having lived in Sugar Land since 1988, Kathy and her husband, Scott, have deep ties to the local

community. Their three adult children were raised here, and Kathy’s commitment to the area is

evident in her volunteer work with organizations like Faithful Paws and Sugar Creek Baptist

Church. Her longstanding presence in Sugar Land enhances her understanding of the

community's unique needs and values.

A Holistic Approach to Healing

Kathy’s therapeutic approach is holistic, integrating mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of

well-being. She is a certified Grief Recovery Method specialist and offers Helping Children with

Loss trainings to educators, caretakers, and parents. Her practice is inclusive and adaptable,

ensuring that each client's individual journey is honored and supported.
